Yes they do my friend, I love to use these funny old sayings with my first grade students. It's fun to watch them try to figure out the hidden message, a great exercise to make them stop and think. I used the the one about the gift horse a couple of years ago...tried as they may they never could figure out the hidden message...after I explained it, they loved it and I actually heard one of them use it with another student. Enjoyed this much, cleverly written my friend!
