Thnx for sharing this Karen. I pray for all of our armed forces overseas, and especially those in the line of fire. I may disagree with some things our President does...but I believe in the USA and all that we stand united for. This is a very great tribute to the American soldier, who defends us with his or her life. For that I am grateful. May the Lord Jesus bless you and yours, and keep your son safe from all harm, and may He be with you always, and at your side constantly. I love this poem. It is touching and well written. I agree with you that people are spending too much protesting the war instead of supporting and praying for the soldiers who are out there risking their lives for US. Mark is in my prayers!

Wonderful write Karen.
I support our troops as well as one's right to protest. That, after all, is what we're fighting for. I do believe, however, that the one's method of protest is an insight to one's integrity. A "Right to lifer" who kills an abortion doctor defeats his entire argument, just as those protesting war who choose violence defeat theirs. If we could only see that our message is in our actions, as well as our words.

Karen, I sympathize with you as a mother of a soldier at a time of war. God save him and all our kids out there is.
However, I'm glad to see a voice of dissent among your readers. A person who is concerned about civilians as myself.
Your poetry is great and touching, however, your prologue is a bit offensive.

This is a lovely tribute to your son, Karen. Delete the crap and keep smiling and kudos to you. If these folks really cared about who lives or dies, they would pay more attention to babies and people dying in the US and instead of working their venomous mouths they would work their sorry asses to really change something. They sound like parrots following a party line.

Good Morning, Ms.Dunn
As a reader of your articles, I know you stand firm in your beliefs. And thats great. I believe also in the backing of our troops. But if you are anti war that does not make one a demon, does it? My family is three generations military, but I still do not like when our people have a great chance to die.
