Here in this poem night steals on - and day says its goodbye like the words of a departing friend heard when it floats along the shadows of trees. Evening is a delightful time of tranquility- the close of a busy life placid and serene and seems to promise that all shall be at peace beyond in the tenderness of the night
Natures Garden
I went into natures garden
And stood by an old crumbling wall
There in the evenings holy hour
Comes the thrush’s sweet carol call
In tree tops tall, dark against
The soft light of a cloudless sky
Evening birds flutter to life
To chirp to sing and rising fly
Moments of awe sweep over me
Fading and burning dim
Slowly as the sun is sinking
In softness over the world’s rim
Over a sliding moonlit sea
Water in a deep stream
Always a place for birds to sing
Giving peace to wild things
Flowers fragrant in summer air
Bow their obedient heads
As in a Benediction Prayer
Athough a word is never said
Wrapped in a mantle of twilight
Her cloak of silvery grey
Night like a mother steals downwards
To banish the burning day
Arms open wide with cool comfort
To all that is living whispering low
Of that deep and peaceful silence
That only her sleepers know
Merciful night is holding
The earth close to her breast
It’s time to rest and dream now
Yes my loves it is time to rest
Soothing and peaceful; thank you for sharing this gift, Beryl. Love and peace,
Regis

This is a wonderfully written poem! It evokes a feeling of peace and tranquility. You can imagine yourself standing by that wall with the night time falling. This would be a lovely poem to be hung up on a bedroom wall or to read to a child at bedtime.......
