Lisette's Journal Part 17

Not peaceful sleep but darkness complete
had surrounded us all that long day.
Lovers lying face to face with no heat.
To escape my plight there was no way.
I felt no stirring ‘til I heard his voice
“Wake Lisette, the moon has arrived.”
My lime eyes opened without choice
and I knew my immortal soul had died.
There can be no blessed immortality
in the bosom of fair angels of God,
only the unending undead travesty
hidden in daylight in cold dank sod.
He opened the lid of the coffin then
life of Queen Of The Night to begin.
He held my hand as I ventured out.
Large candles yet burned on the wall.
Each minute sound was like a shout
Roaches in the crypt, mice in the hall.
Then hunger with a vengeance came
and I knew I must feed this night.
No wharf rat would assuage such pain;
I must feast well before dawn’s light.
I gazed into his eyes with perfect hate
and with such lascivious lust as well.
My raging hunger would have to wait
as we wildly coupled in a dungeon hell.
Like two primal beasts we bit and clawed;
even acts of love depraved and flawed.
La Belle what a privilege to have the opportunity to read you work, you are such an inspiration as I could visualize her standing there with piercing green eyes...

Let the feast and the savagery of love begin. What a setting. Coffin for a bed. Slimy dungeon for a gristly honeymoon tryst. Lust takes precedent over hunger as it has from time immortal.
WEIRD RHODY is a short story collection featuring five strange tales all set in Rhode Island and written by five Rhode Island authors. The anthology is a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft, the Ocean State's famed author of pulp horror.
