Lisette's Journal Part 18
By La Belle Rouge

A bride who could not blush at all
a she-wolf filled with unholy lust
“Love” a state into which I’d not fall
bound only in crime‘s united trust.
A woman no longer, only a fiend
with unquenchable thirst for blood.
Never in sunlight again to be seen
nothing left inside pure or good.
Never to see, no there would never be
any man to cherish my body and soul
no tenderness ever to be shown to me
only wasted cruel nights grown old.
Then Stefanos spoke in a gentle tone,
one I had not until then of him known.

“You must want to bathe, My Sweet.
Wash and brush your long silken hair.
In the city those you pass on the street
must see you as desirable and fair.
I’ve laid out your under linens white
with a low cut satin dress of red
and every man you pass by tonight
will stop short and turn his head.
I know you hunger, My Beautiful One.
I will teach you now how to hunt.
Gorged on blood before night is done
no dirty wharf rats or suckling runt.
You shall have your pick of mortal prey
and come into your power before day.

He gave me the washbowl and pitcher
to cleanse away death’s rotten grime
and I thought myself a bit richer
perhaps he would love me in time .
He laced the white corset in back
when I stood before him clean
and for such a task he had a knack
no longer seeming so evil or mean.
“Your hair is like a sunrise red”
he whispered as he took a brush
smoothing the stands of my head
tenderly, leisurely, without rush.
Perhaps all good was not forever lost
but what would this weak moment cost?

I've always wondered what it would be like to pay that price for immortality--the rise above the masses--to not fear mortals.

Belle,
Again, within the confines of form you manage a fluency to be envied, a flow of expression that takes us on and leaves us waiting for more.
Excellent strong detail throughout.

i really like this one, Belle... perhaps it's because of the inherent beauty of the scenario aside from it's darker roots... but then, even "evil" is capable of purer emotions? and i very much admire your skilful writing incorporating strict form, yet making the flow so effortless and flowing. xx

The beginning of her new life. a life she will grow to enjoy because of the different sensations and the blood-lust will be quenchable. Will she still, from time to time, remember fondly, sadly, of a time so long ago when a mortal she had been

Perhaps it will cost a handful of happiness, warmer shadows, intimate whispers and a door opening to an unknown that goes forever?....
