ushering in the next one
political scenes often incite
relief or dread or both
our beautiful firm bodies
change with the years
hair turns silver in time
new lines alter landscapes
everything changes
our thoughts often alter
morphing into new views
influenced by knowledge
and wisdom gained with age
we end toxic relationships
welcome uplifting ones
nothing remains stationary
in an ever-evolving universe
everything changes
to survive we ride the waves
of life's powerful hurricanes
shelter from blizzards of pain
in a sanctuary safe and warm
in time we grow, learn how to
throw lifelines to the drowning
the only unchanging constants
are faith, hope, love and God
The sooner we embrace change, the happier we'll be. I like the way you have covered life the way it is in three short stanzas. I sure feel some of the things that you wrote about growing older and the inevitable.
