Quietly rocking
A book in my hands
Warmed by flames caressing
a new stack of wood
Content in your love.
I glance out the window
Into angry night
Winds blow furiously
Drifts move from place to place
Undecided where they look best.
A form leaning on a light pole
catches my eye
Overcoat pummeled by the wind
Hat pulled over your eyes
You seem to be searching
Searching for something
beyond this circle of light.
I hold my breath
She appears scarf flowing
Walking directly into your arms
Lips meet in desperation
Warming her from angry wind
I imagine love in your eyes.
You check the time
She leaves with one last kiss
Wind erases her steps
As though she were never there
she disappears into the dark night.
You visibly slump
and your joy turns to sadness
You turn and walk up the path
I had never seen you leave
You enter and sit by the fire
We both feel pain
You for having to let her go
Me for the glimpse at forbidden love.

Reads like a wonderfully versed page from a romantic novel

poor Sharron. No use crying though, as my mum says. Men are all the same.
interesting situation from being within looking out...

A moment so delicately captured here ~ so beautifully observed. I often 'remove myself' from the situation, simply to observe what is transpiring ~ and your poem reads from this perspective. Enjoyed the read, love the ending ~ really good Sharon.

Ahhhh Madam, this is a wonderful rich piece of writing.....indeed I'm impressed.....and a pretty profile picture as well ;)
When Miranda Nolan inherits a house she soon discovers a need to solve the mysteries surrounding the late owner along with resolving the strong attraction she feels for a co-claimant who lost his hearing and faces a world of silence.
