Will My Love Be Enough
………………………………………………………………….
The steam of morning shower,
Clears my mind of midnight cobwebs…
Bringing reality to foremost awareness.
Protective walls have tumbled,
And still fall as sun rises,
Clear sun lined path lies waiting…
For treading cold feet…
Hesitantly departing humbling redemption.
Venturing out to search…
For you…in every thought,
That will inhabit my mind…
Today…as always.
Questioning if in fact,
The frightened little girl…
Within…is still hiding,
Secure in warm wrap,
Of blankets upon sheets.
The image of you,
Lying in another’s arms…
With lack of strength,
Of your own…
While I try to reclaim,
My own…haunts me.
Were the words you spoke,
Spoken through lips of…
Frightened and fearful child…
Or spoken through the heart,
With confidence and passion…
Of aging beauty ?
How am I to know…
What you consumed so eagerly,
Will be enough…
To satisfy your hunger,
For growth and love ?
I’ve tired…
And now so fatigued,
From constant battle…
With opposing forces,
Of wants versus needs…
Will my love be enough ?
