Why do I torture myself this way?
Lost to a dream of some past reality
Wandering lost and alone inside
Crying silent tears in the middle of the night
What must I do!
Life holds no meaning
A wraith, a shell
A faded memory to all
This is what I’ve become
Something forsaken in the night
Does no one hear my pleas?
The night answers me with silence
Yet, there is serenity in solitude
I miss the nights, the silence
Of sitting alone in my room
Dreaming of some knight to come and save me
Lost to a fairy tale dream world
Which to this day haunts my every moment
Stop these demons from coming after me
Vanquish them all from my terrible dreams
Tired I’ve become of falling prey to hunters
Those so called friends that chase me at night
Wanting so desperately to strike me down
To steal my soul and watch my body wither upon the ground
Lost is my soul, wandering aimlessly through this world
I keep reaching for something that is not there
A mirage in dreams, in my heart
For a love so grand that I might fly upon its wings
Soar high above this world, above the clouds, above the pain
In silence I weep, as I slowly die from heartache
Where is that fabled knight that saves the princess?
Myth and legend, lost to the ages which have passed
Is there not chivalry in this world, something lingering
Of ways grown old?
Too old for my time, stripped from something lost long ago
Misplaced in some wicked time of fast paced lives
One of glowing words upon a screen, leaving dreams to die slowly
Is this what is most wanted from life?
Trapped inside, cut off from the world, longing to walk
In the forests of old, my time, let me go back
Perhaps I shall grow my hair as Rapunzil
So that a knight might climb this mighty tower
Or am I that beauty who forever sleeps
Until a prince, her one true soul mate
Happens upon her and grants that one true kiss?
Wake me from this endless slumber
Or all the princes long gone from here
Died with the knights in some glorious battle
In some far off land I’ll never set foot upon
Oh, how I yearn to walk through the green lands
Those rolling hills forever emerald
Take me home, please, I beg of thee
Let not me wither into the night in this forsaken land
Of fast paced lives and technological contraband
Show me the place where pints keep coming
Where the ale is honeyed, not stale
To drink mead with the best of them
Ride steeds so sturdy, that nothing would break them
I yearn for home, where my heart beats
One day, I hope, I pray, I dream
For that which might make me whole once more
That fabled tale of life happily ever after
