Past Mistakes, Todays Regrets
Thoughts replay in the mind,
One especially stands out.
Those words once spoken to me
In the beginning,
“We all make mistakes, honey.”
The words came across as
Compassionate, understanding and what not.
Only to find out what the devil has lain
Out in front of me, within my own mind.
The mistakes I’ve made in my life until now,
Regret fills me to overflow.
I kick myself nightly, always have,
Since then.
I know now what Fate has dealt me.
Condemned my soul to wander alone.
Across time it shall, a mere wraith,
Nothing more.
I thought I could trust you,
Share my pain with you,
So understanding, you seemed to be.
Yet, now that is lost as I cry alone,
In the shadows where life is haunting.
For they are my only friends, these shadows
In which I haunt, only left to silent cries
Of regret.
Past mistakes do come back to haunt us.
That much I know now is so very true
As I weep in darkness eternal
Forever alone in shadow.
