Bread Crumbs
This feeling, the one that rises
Up within me like the ocean
At high tide, it settles in over
Me like a rush of wind. A long
Time it has been since emotions
Flowed so freely within. Jubilation,
I feel as if I’m walking on water!
Then, I begin to tarry, lingering
On such a wild ride of utmost fancy.
But, why? I’ve seen this before, I’ve
Felt this before … only once. It seemingly
Ended in tragedy. Now, how my heart
Doth frantically try to find stable ground.
Yet, nestled in thy hath done, like a big
House cat come crawling up onto my
Lap, making thyself right at home!
Nestled within my heart, thou hath done!
I tell myself, no, this cannot be real, yet
Losing this battle I am. Then I tell myself,
I am just reading between the lines. This
Is NOT real, I can only be imaging things.
Scared, am I, of this enchantment. I fear
What may lie ahead, along this path. Or
Am I just retracing these steps, those of
Which I’ve eagerly mislaid?
