I stand across the lake, its shimmering waters
seemingly serene, yet there you are walking
the other shore so far away. Perhaps this lake
is full of my tears, too many nights of weeping
I suppose.
Now, as it seems, you drift further and further
away. The light follows you, leaving me standing
in twilight, with tears like diamonds that come
out and twinkle upon a blanket of midnight.
If only Noah could come with his Ark, so that
I might now drown within these shimmering
serene waters. But, after all, they are merely
my tears.
Cast not the raft as I drown within the rising waters,
but turn away and find yourself a brand new day.
Leave me here for one day I shall rise from the ash
to live again. This is my Destiny, for Fate has seen to
it that alone I shall wander.
There will always be a light that shines from within me,
when thoughts of you come filtering through the mists
that cloud my soul.
The rains are coming now, I'd better seek shelter.
This is exploding with emotions; I hear them loud and crystal clear. I especially like the closing line. Awesome write!

I like how the metaphor shifts from water to fire near the end. It expresses the contrasts of life very well. Sometimes it's a drowning and at other times a burning. It's also moody in a way that I really like. Maybe moody isn't the right word. It's like shadows of clouds riding the contours of foothills toward mountains beyond.

A beautiful piece of mourning and loss...well penned and equally well expressed! Bravo!
