It’s going to Rain Today!

These folks live in a city called Reality and every day
they know, it’s going to rain down on their souls.

“It’s going to rain, today,” said the blind man,
sitting and begging, on the corners of Board and Bland.
Smiling as he sits, holding a tin cup in his hand.

It rained the day a bomb took his sight, silly fool, he
thought the government would help him in his plight,
And now it rains every day, every day of his life.

“It’s going to rain, today,” said the man on the busy street.
He held a sign that said, “I’ll work for food” and he would,
If he could, but he has no legs, so there he sits at
the corner and daily begs.

It rained the day he lost his job to a place over seas, so
there you go…no job, no insurance to help with his disease
called di-a-be-tes,
And now it rains every day, every day of his life.

“It’s going to rain today,” said the mama to her three babies,
huddled in the back seat of her car. Gas is now $4 gallon,
Food or gas, gas or food, how she hates to sound so blue,
so she and her babies wait, hope and pray.

It rained the day her husband died in a place called Iraq
Sad it was when he came home lying on his back, never
more to play with his babies, make love to his wife and have a
little fun.
And now it rains every day, every day of her life.
