As I wrote this, I pictured a country music duet on the stage of the Rhyman Auditorium in Nashville, during the 1950'S or 1960'S-dlj

Wrong House, Right Love

Dan Johnson

Love has a hold of us,
I love you, you love me,
But we are caught in a lover’s snare…
I live in the wrong house
And you live…over there…

We each live in the wrong house,
But ours is the right love.
Oh Lord
How did we ever get in this mess?

Walls are so paper thin,
Late at night,
I can hear when you are laying with him,
But in my heart, I know you love me…
From where I live, I can hear your
Agonizing heartbeat

And the sad truth is

We each live in the wrong house,
But ours is the right love.
Oh Lord,
How did we ever get in this mess?

Wonderful write; enjoyed the creativity and unique approach as well as the subject. I can hear your words sung through a sad, raspy voiced country singer with a tender heart.

Dan, I don't know much about country music (my nephew swears
by it), but I do know good writing when I read it. And this
is a beautifully written poem.

Aside: I also have written and had published a lot of haiku,
and it's an art form I enjoy - but sadly, I've gotten away
from it. Yours I like. - gene.

A sad song that expresses a common theme in this world/life. Thank you, Dan. Love and peace to you,

Hey Dan -

very country indeed. I couldn't make the picture appear, but it's fun imagining it. The twang carries on.

Kathy

Dan - Like the play on words in the title and in the poem. Country, yes, but I can hear some blues there, too. - David

Wonderful, lyrical poem my friend...it does have a country ring to it...I could almost see Tammy and George singing this one, or Conway and Loretta...enjoyed this much!

Being a woman I cannot say too much. But this is a good write and your intentions are good so stay in the house where you are and just remember that good times. Embarrassing this write is kind of to me.

The poetry of Nashville never changes. Your words flow as if they are being lived in the moment. Ain't it agonizing to live the agony of one living with one while loving another? An old one - with new words. - Bill

Agonizing, isn't it? Right when we think we're over things, something comes up that leaves a reminder of those lovely times together.
