This writing is partly inspired by Cormack McCarthy's "The Road" and from those environmentalists in our group that continually remind us, this, our home, is temporary-dlj

Dan Johnson

Earth gives up its birth
Losing all senses of worth
Shattered dreams smolder

Winds were once gentle,
Blowing east, west, north and south
Now stagnant, deaths friend.

Fires raged one hot night,
Ashes go where hot winds prevail
Pain, beyond the pale.

Now, a final thought or prayer

Heirs to breathe believe!
Someday ‘tis gone, like a bird,
Without wings or song.

What a blessing to read your words, words after my own heart...I care so much about our world, sometimes it hurts...

Beautifully said Dan! We all eventually realize this present life is temporary, if we are wise!...ET

Our earthly home is the only one we've got, and we so sadly abuse it more, each and every day now.

Such a profound write my friend...we can't take for granted what we've been blessed with as the old cliche goes...here today gone tomorrow. I like what Sage said, history does repeat itself. If we look around and back we can see that going on as we speak...well done indeed!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

The answer to The Essentials is looking for new long-term sources of supply and inspire a vision to once again make fruitful our very precious resources. History does repeat itself - it's just a product of civilization that's being hit again and the tell-tell sign of the last three decades is proved in the tree rings which record one of the most severe droughts. It has all been recorded many times and generations before us on the petroglyphs suggesting violent conflict between men armed with shields, bows, arrows, and clubs...referring to the global climate, scientists refer to it as "transient dynamics." Beetle infestations are accomplishing the transformations here in Colorado...such an ugly sight. Be well Dan.

Sage

Very well written Dan. While I am keenly aware that we mortals have stewardship over mother earth. The current climate situation in my opinion is not due to mankind, but the sun and other factors not in our control. Those that would profit from the current alarmism they have created, do us all, and mother earth an injustice. So, I will continue to be kind to her, and do nothing to pollute or damage this fragile ecosystem we call our beloved abode. Though that will have no positive effect on the current weather cycles. Water pollution and saving our most important natural ally, the trees, is very important in my opinion. The carbon cycle thing is natural and has happened before and was a time when life flourished and progressed. God bless .JMW

Very good write, wondering if the world will survive myself, but I believe the good Lord is going to put it right in the end. That is what I was always taught from a child on up. I do believe that it will end peacefully with God in control again.

This is frightenly good, Dan. Despite the actions currently
of Mother Nature, I still hold out some hope that the earth
can be salvaged. But first, we've to find a way to stop these
destructive wars. And then... -gene.
