Can You Explain Soft Rain?
© 2009
Dan Johnson

Can you show the color of soft rain?
Is it silver or blue…or, bluish silver?
Can you describe how you hear soft rain falling with gentle kisses from above?
While other rain drops, will fall with gales and gusto?
Can you explain the fragrance of soft rain?
How do you breathe it in, show me!
Can you create a feast of soft rain?
Tell me, is it sweet or sour what story does it tell your lips?

Tell me

I hear this in a raspy whispery tone that only a man with strong arms can do while holding... Oh the visuals this invokes. Very good work my friend, Kathy

Soft rain is a gift. There are many places on this planet who could use it right now. California comes to mind. Thank you, Dan. Love and peace,

soft rain, is the domain of the poet's romantic kiss -- this is just wonderful Dan -- a question we dare to confront the Muse with -- for the scientific definition of soft rain is far too simple -- it requires no imagination -- and we miss the very essence -- much peace and love my friend -- JMW

It tastes mighty fine in the middle of the night from atop the roof in a thunderstorm. Like sweet needles of positively charged ions within.

Soft rain? can the tips of my fingers that almost touch her skin tracing every contour, every mount and every valley with a touch that not even a butterfly can imitate, can it be called a soft rain?

Fantastic write, Dan. The question and the answer. Very thought provoking and searches for what we really see and feel. I love this kind of thinking.

Soft rain is the color of blue... the palest blue almost as though it is a leftover from a passing sky. I know it makes no sense but in my imagination it is how I see it.. and it's taste? Soft rain is ambrosia, a feast of sweetness.. I really loved this piece!

When the air/water temperature is above 85 degrees, the rain is soft. Then, again, rainwater is soft water because it has no minerals except the dust that formed its drops.

Dan,

A beautiful nature poem about something we rarely think about, what is rain? This is very cleverly written. Enjoyed very much.
