That Old Perigee Moon

The weatherman says there will be too many clouds to see that old Perigee Moon. Maybe, just maybe, the brightness and its closeness to earth will move the cloud cover and give us a glimpse because it won’t be this way again until 2029
Tonight’s the night
It cannot come too soon
We’ll be so close,
Just to be held in its precious glow,
Tonight, yes tonight
I’ll be kissed by that Perigee Moon
Wait!
Is that a tear I see
Flowing from that old Perigee Moon?
Why?
Did I say something wrong
Or do something to make that old moon sad?
No!
That old Perigee Moon just whispered
To Mother Earth
“I’m sad” he says…
“What a mess your children have surely made
Since this planets birth”
He cries,
“You’ve driven yourselves to a dismal grave,
You’ve made the want of things your infernal slave,
and left this old Perigee Moon in a state of gloom.”

So very sad, indeed. My mutts and I watched that old Perigee Moon on a lakeshore, and their howls seemed especially sad this year.
