Now to sit on the fence friend
Well, just what does this mean
Are you for or against it
Or just there to be seen

Did you speak or say nothing
When your friends cast their vote
Or were you skillfully waiting
In your two sided coat

All these men with small families
Threw down the gauntlet for you
But you thought of your savings
No this just wouldn't do

So you'd let them fight for you
You would simply not choose
And you'd stay on your fence
No money would you lose

So the rest went on strike
But were victors on the day
And its them you must thank
For the raise in your pay

These real men who suffered
While you sat on the fence
But remember someday friend
They'll have their recompense
