Dog knows best

The wind blew fierce and the waves rode high
And the fisherman cursed this day
Cause' he had to haul his lobster pots
It had always been this way

So he called his dog, his faithful friend
Old Blacky was his name
He had sailed so often with this man
Blacky was wise to this fishing game

But today the dog looked fearfully out
To a sea that roared and crashed
And if the fisherman thought this dog would go
Then his hopes were quickly dashed

Old Blacky, he simply knew the score
Had his master lost his mind?
To put out in a boat in these gale foce winds
Was suicide of a different kind

But the fisherman sensed old Blacky's fear
And he pulled him by the collar
This dog it would accompany him
It could howl and it could holler

"Stop howling dog," the fisherman cried
"Or by God I'll have your hide"
But the dog leapt out and swam for shore
It would not go on this ride

So old Blacky it struggled to the beach
As the boat turned upside down
And it sadly looked out to the sinking boat
Cause' it knew its master had drown

But the dog had tried to warn this man
Of its fear that they may go under
As the rays of lightning filled the sky
Amidst the roar of Gods mighty thunder

So if your dog starts playing you up
Look to why its putting on this show
Cause' although it cannot speak to you
It may know something you don't know

so deeply meaningful, yep, dogs do know when things are not right, my gf starting dating this guy, her dog did not like him, when I told her, if the dog dosn't take to the one you are dating, there might be something the dog knows, sure enough, a few weeks later he was arrested for drugs, she does not do drugs, or we wouldn't hang together, so now, when she starts dating someone, she tells them, first my dog has to approve, funny in a way, but true.

Dogs are smarter than we give them credit for. Look at how they react before an earthquake, tornado...they know something long before humans do. Early warning, perhaps? Excellent write, Gerald.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
