True tale of Willie Kennard, a little known about colored lawman.

Way back in the eighteen hundreds
In a little Colarado town
The townsfolk lived in mortal fear
Law and order had broken down

Barney Casewit was the gunman there
Held the frightened people to his will
He´d killed two Marshal´s and raped a child
In the town of Yankee Hill

But then in stepped WILLIE KENNARD
A ninth cavalry man so fine
He shot two of Casewit´s cronies dead
Hanged Casewit from a very large pine

He cleaned up that town of Yankee Hill
And respect he quickly earned
Put law and order back on the street
That for two years the people had yearned

But a black Marshal didn´t suit everyone
Änd Colonel Reece Durham festered inside
He would rid Yankee Hill of this colored man
Give the town back some lost pride

He confronted Willie in a drunken rage
Shouted, ´Get your black ass outa´ town´
But as he drew his colt 44´
Willie reluctantly gunned him down

Soon after WILLIE KENNARD left town
And his memory was soon but gone
But Willie was as big a hero as they come
And WILLIE KENNARD´S name lives on
