Live for now

Somtimes life can seem very hard
When good fortune passes by your door
Your next door neighbor has coined it in
And you´re jealous of his 4x4

The uphill struggle you´ve been fighting with
Was invented in your poor sad mind
What happened to the person you once were
Those days when you were oh so kind

We know you´d love to change your luck
We´re all riding in that same boat
But most people claw their way through life
Trying hard just to stay afloat

How much would you take for your grandchild´s smile?
Or the hugs they give for free?
Is this not what life is all about?
You have eyes but you will not see

So forget about what may never be
Bring your heart in from the cold
Cause´ the love you need is in front of you
And its worth its weight in gold

Be happy with the things you have
Bring your life back on an even keel
Then someday you´ll learn to smile again
And be happy in the way you feel

Gerald,
I've always thought 'the best things in life are free'. I know a friend who is always reaching for more, never satisfied with what she already has, so she's never happy. I try hard not to take for granted what God has given me. A blooming flower, a hot cup of coffee, a gentle breeze, my very breath I owe to God. Excellent poem, Gerald. Definitely a keeper!

Blessings,
~Linda
