This is a poem of a man befriending me and my sister when we were in my teens. He was a very good friend of the family and it was a couple of years later that I remembered being abused, sexually, by him for two nights I thought when he had visited I found out later. He never touched me again until three years later when my step-father started in.
Elizabeth is with us in this picture. Julie and I are on either side of Larry. Mom is taking the picture.
I think he wanted to have us girls in a "Happy Moment" before he went back to his wife! His daughter said he treasured the picture his last few years!
I am sure his daughter knew what he was, but loved him anyway, Like how I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess I am screwed up in the head some, but hey, aren't we all?

Reviews of "The Picture-Warning,Overtones of Abuse"
often a child of abuse does't realize they are being abused at the time because they love the adult and expect them to know right from wrong...it is up to adults to control this kind of behavior and too often they just don't. writing about it is cathartic
You are a survivor........God heals all......I hope you find peace and serenity in your heart.....being able to write about this or discuss it is difficult I would imagine.....and i admire your strength............pax.......A
South Baltimore serves as the backdrop for this gripping story of three brothers leading very different lives but joined forever by the secrets of a painful family past.
Talking about it, takes away it's hurt.
