Everyday a dustbin story
every time an useless
heartbreak

there are 6.2 billion views
each of which wants to
make sense

abrupt the reel ends
when no one's willing
to take the bait

and I sit outside
sipping good scotch
taking all this down

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
plastic film makes
scratchy noises
as I peel the
menthol pack
it's a candle lit moment
of backyard proportions
something of a
frequent fashion
(habit-like, if you will)
tin foil bleeds aroma
pulling back & smiling big
and the stolen lighter
leads the way
by licking all that's
sad
to a state of
perfect glee
smooth whiskey
greasing the old engine
wraps a warm cloth
around my easy shoulders
cozy & familiar
like an old friend's hug
D's inside, watching 'Psycho'
& the neighbor's belch
makes everything feel
just about right.
These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani
Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
