a piano softly plays
a saxophone lays
it's soft tune
at the moon

a mandolin gently strums
guitars and quiet drums

each note finds their wings
each has it's own voice to sings
and music is what it brings

a soft voice
with words of it's choice

a simple ryhtmn
a sad rhyme
each given
in it's own time

a lonely beat
a sad repeat
of a phrase
a lonely gaze

a heart beat
a heartache
a heat
you can't foresake

a dance floor
a love that's for sure
word's that sing
sound's that have wings
of angels

a soft country tune
a blue moon
or the blues
the true s
the lies
mysteries
in music's why's

memories
and histories
written
and hidden

in a piano's soft sound
or a saxophone's mellow around
or a guitar or mandolin
each with a sound so thin
where does love begin
where does love end

in the music

that two hearts play

if the music stay
or if the music goes it's own way
who's to say

if the song
was right
or wrong

it's all in the magic
of the music

the piano
the saxophone
the madolin
the guitar
only they know
only they hear the wind
only the music sees the star
in two lovers eye

only
music
knows why

I enjoyed this piece, Steve. Heard soft, slow music wafting on a night breeze, saw the blue moon, felt the hearts beating, and ended on a softly sad note, but one that poses a wonderful question and concept. I particularly like this section:

"memories
and histories
written
and hidden

in a piano's soft sound
or a saxophone's mellow around
or a guitar or mandolin
each with a sound so thin
where does love begin
where does love end

in the music

that two hearts play"

Beautiful.

Steve, this poem is expressively wonderful! I especially like the first stanza:

"a piano softly plays
a saxophone lays
it's soft tune
at the moon.."

Great!

Music can be very soothing to the soul and the poem soothes the eyes.
