sitting
by the shore
feeling the ocean breeze,
hearing the waves gently role to the shore,
staring at foot prints in the sand,
seeing the clouds passing by.
sittin' and wonderin' "Why?".
not of the past.
not of those things that must last.
but of Today
and it's way.
and of Tomorrow
will it bring more sorrow?
the breeze blows by, where does it go?
the waves roll in & out again.
the foot prints of people come & gone.
the clouds float off into the sky.
and i sit here and wonder "Why?".
my life is the breeze, it passes with ease,
like the waves lost to the sea,
foot prints there in the sand,
clouds there in the sky.
somehow my life is passing by.
and i sit here and wonder "Why?".
i've been working on this for a while. it never seemed to come together, to be right. then i realized, it's like my life. how appropriate.-steve
Absolutely beautifull. My favorite yet and I agree that it is COMPLETE. Perfect just the way it is. I will re-read this one often. Thank you.

editing a poem is correct, but the time comes when you have to stop. This poem is perfect as far as I can see.
You seem to have taken a more serious form of poetry for the past little while. I like this. I think this is complete.
Well-done Steve!!!!!

One of your best writes Steve! This poem is not hungry for words, but it is hungry for thoughts. It looks like a poem that comes out when you think with a lot of depth which is not always. Excellent write... :)
The deep-dive literary meditations presented as stories, poems, and essays in The American Poet Who Went Home Again, A Mosaic of My Soul at Work, have captivated and inspired readers ever since its first paperback publication in 2008.

Steve, that 'why' ! I try not to ask these days...and fail at that. Enjoyed your poem. Now, you enjoy your ocean! <that's a command>

Very very nice Steve...
Is often said..it's the journey, not the destination...
enjoy the journey, my friend..
I love this one, and I could truly relate to it.. Lets hope that the story continues for years to come.
