there's a place in my mind

be fore warned this is by FAR the longest oiece i have ever written

there's a place in my mind
someday i hope to find
should GOD ever be so kind
as to let me leave these troubles behind

when i close my eyes
get past all the "good-bye's"
all the "why's" & "lies"
the "sigh's" & the "cry's"
before Time passes me bye
before i Die

i can see me there
where the air is fresh & clean
know what i mean?
where i won't feel so fragile & lean

i've been shown
guess i've always known
that when my winds have blown
i'll be there
i'll be where
i want ta' be
so you see
thought i'd share
that place in my mind
that place i'm longing ta' find

in that place there's no verse
be it blessing or be it a curse
being there'll be no worse
than where i've been
guess that might depend
on your point of view
that's up to me
not to you

it has a ryhme of it's own
a rythmn in time
and when the winds have blown
me to this unknown place in my mind
here's what i hope ta' find-

it's in Montana
in a valley
right up my alley
with mountains all around
the only sound you'll hear
is the birds & coyotes & deer
no fear

in the silence
there'll be no violence
only me bein' there
where
i belong
only me
liivin' my song
forgettin' all that's gone wrong

there'll be a river
a life giver
to the soil & to my soul
to me & to my whole

you see
it'll spring a fountain
fed by the snow on the mountain
the minutes & hours & days
will all fade away
i'll stop countin'

i'll know the time a' day
by the way
the sun crosses the sky
maybe then i'll know why
hope i do before i die

in the Spring
there'll be wildflowers
that the winter's snow will bring
and i'll while away the hours
learnin' ta sing
playin' my geetar
that is, if i ever get that far

in the summer
it'll be hot
but not a bummer
and i'll be grategull
for all that i got

in the fall
when the leaves'll turn
maybe then i'll stand tall
lettin' old memories burn

and in the winter,
aw the winter,
when it turns cold
the snows on the ground
maybe then i won't feel so old
listnin' ta' the sound
of what my life's brought around

in this place in my mind
i know what 'll find

horses & cow's
rooster's & chickens
easy pickens
of the eggs they have laid
only memories
of the prices i've paid

a little
town
not too close, not too far
just follow the northern star

when i need to get around
to hear Life's sound
i'll hop in my car
maybe an old pick up truck
go see some friends talk
- old memeoires i'll mend
just sittin' in town
without a frown
listen ta' the sound
of my Life goin' round

and a lady, my lady
on my arm
afterall what's the harm
of lovin' a lucky charm

someone to know me
someone to show me
someone to glow me
someone to toe me
when toein is due

a simple life
a dog & a wife
(maybe a cat, if that's where she's at)
no more strugglin'
no more strife
no more runnin'
away from my life

wild flowers in spring
warm bodies in summer
autumn colors
winter with snow
don't ya' know
guess that's all

'ceptin the peace i'll find
in that place in my mind
should GOD ever be so kind
