Wrap me inside the love you hold
inside; there let me grow old.
Cocoon me in silken layers
of your touch, fair kisses yours
imagined. Let me live and die
safe and loved at last, soothed by
unfamiliar feeling of home,
place in you where I belong.

Love in flesh has eluded me;
in life as is cannot be.
But love in soul’s undying flame
won’t be extinguished or tamed.
It seeks its twin eternal fire;
‘til it finds it will not tire.
Old souls see beyond restriction,
false fences for “protection.”

Surely you see I would not take
anything from you nor stake
some claim that is not mine to claim.
No, love, I’d leave you the same
as now and simply be with you,
always present, ever true .
