tick-tock, tick-tock.....

tick-tock, tick-tock
as time goes on
and sand so pure and fine
trickles through an hourglass
by life’s own precious design.

tick-tock, tick-tock
the wall clock’s arms
and pendant will never rest
as time continues it’s long journey
a never ending quest.

tick-tock, tick-tock
ev’ry moment spend
in self-inflicted pain
is a waste of the greatest gift
a sin to live in vain.

tick-tock, tick-tock
I listen closely
and I am well aware
no second chance is given to me
no extra time to spare.

We are only alloted so much of it. Once past we can never reclaim it, but we can savor it's memories left behind.
You are getting pretty good at this poetry stuff, for a novelist that is.
Merry Christmas to you and your Clown.

Time like life does seem to run the fastest when it is running out, I like the steady cadence rythem provided by the repitition of the tick tock theme, can almost feel the oppresive clock on the wall that no matter how much we tell ourselves to ignore our eyes are always drawn to it. Well done R.
