summer,
when the nights are hot
and love is even hotter.
I have memories
of a summer like that
in the Florida Keys,
a whole block of time
that I look back on
as the loving days,
racing jet skis with the wind
to the outer islands for shells,
then docking at a tiki bar
for buffalo wings and
Coronas with lime.
But it was the nights
that I miss the most,
when the perspiration was there
before the passion began,
and the only thing that cooled
was a dip in the Gulf
and a frozen marguerita, or two,
and there in the night sky,
heaven’s stars danced
like diamonds on the water.
Hot summer nights
in the loving days,
when the nights were hot
and love was even hotter.
Oh yes the Florida beaches...only a 15 minute ride from my house,
but it seems CJ's writes have been the culprit of things around here lately! LOL!

I love yur work C. J. Maybe we managed to meet somewhere long ago when I lived in Vermnot...just next door. I think we see so many things the same way. This is a treasure...impassioned memories, so personal, but a love so brilliant you need to share it and let each of us keep it alive for you in your mind, heart, and gentle but impish spirit. I must say, however, in all honesty, it's never too late!
Love,

Now this is why I love your poetry so much. Always a fresh phrase or verse, new in its creative imagination. Thanks for the trip of cool balcony breezes.

Your pen sizzles with this romantic verse...I kept hearing Olivia Newton-John and John Trivolta singing their duet!
