Today I saw a bumblebee.
He was on a pretty rose.
I leaned in to look at him,
and he stung me on my nose!
I wasn’t gonna squish him,
only watch and see …
but I’ll never get THAT close again
to a grouchy grumble-bee.

Me neither, CJ !!! And that pic of the bumble bee looks like it was taken one microsecond before the sting! BTW, Fallen Sword is AKA Ted L Glines, and I see that your kids' poems are even better than ever [if that is even possible] :)

Bumble bee in my Gumboots
Busy' buzz' busy' buzz, as I walk along.
I just don’t understand: where is it coming from?
Walking up the garden path, going in for tea,
And all the while this buzzing noise,
By the side of me.
Turning looking as I go, puzzled as to what,
But there’s no evidence, of buzzers flying round my spot.
I’m flicking up my tee shirt, I’m checking on my chest.
The buzzing sound becoming louder, this must be a test?
I go into the kitchen, the kettles on for me
If only I could find out more, if only I could see.
I’m looking at my gumboots, and now I fear the worst.
I’ll have to take them off real fast, unless he stings me first.
I take my boot off double quick; I’m hopping on one toe.
A bumblebee flies out with a buzz,
And everyone shouts oh”
I don’t know how it got there; I’ve really no idea.
I’ve gone all cold and shivery,
My hair stands up with fear.
I’ve never been afraid of bees,
Normally I say,
But now I'm going to check my gumboots.
Every single day!
It still amazes me how you can, in a few short lines, capture the sweet innocence of the young. I can just see this little tyke rubbing their nose, wondering why that little bee stung them.
Ouch. :) Me twin used to catch the little buggers bare handed, they never stung her. Now if she stomped one, you bet *OW* it got her! Better the feet than where me step mom got stung...on the *cringe* nip...(sanitized it for the little ones). Now THAT'S serious hurt. LOL An adorable write, with a cautionary message, STAY AWAY FROM GROUCHY BEES!
Ah, this is just wonderful....I love it and I tested the waters with it...my three old granddaughter loved it as well. Great write, very cute.

OUCH! My step mother got stung in a very delicate area while sunbathing; she still remembers it all these years later~! I have only been stung in the foot, thank goodness, but I did get nailed in the finger by a wasp once. That was worse than the bees! WOUCH!!
