Timeless.
Love, no matter when or how it is imparted, tenderly enters the heart of our beloved where it fits permanently like a precious gem, transcending time and place.
This is Love, dearest CJ, uttered in a way not many can... because not many reach and imbibe it so completely, so deeply... although it is everything ALL long for. I'm more profoundly touched, upon reading this GIFT you share, than I can possibly express.

Hard to believe this is a first poem. It is wonderful. Magic, you're right. He was a very lucky man, and I am sure he knew. Especially after reading this!! Loving Hugs, 'Pea' :_
CJ as I write thru tears,I give thanks for those who have found such love in their lives. This poem is exquisite and a keeper! thank you for sharing it!
WOW! CJ...this made the hairs on my arms stand at attention! What an amazing poem...it's as if you had a premonition. Ironic how the poem was returned to you...with your hubby's belongings...almost as if he made it just so. Treasure this one, my friend. It truly is beautiful. I feel he's looking down at you with much love. Thanks for sharing.
CJ,
This is one of the most selfless and beautiful love poems I have read in a long time. I am sorry for your loss but the fact that this poem was returned to you has made for a wonderful memory, I am sure.
CJ there are no words to describe the heartfelt beauty that lies within the lines of this divine poem. It is as if the muse that inspired this beautiful write was intune with a higher power that foresaw the events that lay ahead in your life, or was the muse the higher power himself? Your write leaves me with many tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Your story would make a heart warming romance novel, I've read few of them that has touched me as this one has. My dear friend you are a lady of many talents....

Strange but you wrote it as if he was writing it to you. Wonderful poem and I am sure he is looking after you from a place more wonderful that this earth. Victor
This one is beautiful. Indeed, even though you wrote it for him, he sent it back to you, and it is perhaps more meaningful than ever. A powerful, magical moment and write--thank you for this one.
Wow...CJ, through my tears, my heart feels this one...Yes, it truly is a spiritual write and the timing was from above, all planned. Now, I believe, the timing has come again...you have waited to re-post for a reason, maybe to fine tune your gift, maybe to take that extra mile in your works? I don't know, but if I'm listening to the whispers right, I think God has another stage to present...all in knowing, all planned!
A keeper for me!

it was magical, almost. It was as though he had written it to me .....
The magical bond between soulmates is astonishing at times, and thank you for sharing this heartwrenching intimate moment with us, CJ. And I would bet he's smiling down on you right now.
It's difficult to react to a poem with so much personal emotion such as this one. Everyone on the den should be thankful you have shared this portion of your heart with us. This is one of those treasures you hold close to your breast and breathe it in. YOU are my hero.

CJ, this is one of the finest, most poignant love poems I've ever read. And the title would make a fine title for a book don't you think?
I was a child of the Vietnam war. Every day for the first 12 years of my life, I watched Walter Cronkite with my folks, and listened as he read off the news of the day from Nam. And I know many who came back from the war, either in coffins or were changed forever. Bless you my dear friend for the sacrifice you have made, and for the adoration you obviously still have for your wonderful brave husband. I'm moved beyond words, although my review belies that statement. With humble love, Michelle
"If Only a Minute" is especially poignant, due to the the creator's revelation of the sad history behind it. It's also as if CJ Heck subconsciously predicted her husband's untimely death, which makes it all the more spiritual.
Thank for sharing, CJ, and thank for sending it to him, even if the physical poem didn't reached the love was.
Your words didn't reached only him, but also those of us in Vietnam, the ones tha came back and the ones on the wall.
I wish this poem was sent to me when I was there.
You touched my soul.

I cried while reading this. I can imagine this poem and your personal story as a book you might write. Sorry for your loss...glad you are able to share and create such wonderful poems in his honor.

In 1969, you were many things. You were a soldier's wife, a grieving widow, a poet, and its reader.
I Thank You for being all of those things, and I Thank your Soldier/Husband, for his duty and ultimate sacrifice. It is because of him, that we are.
I am saving this to my library, for its the best love poem I've ever read.
I don't know if you know this but I was in Vietnam in 1966. The poem brought up all kinds of emotions. I guess the war, in some way, will always be there. Guy--

Life for CJ, and Shawn, has taken on new meaning and a wonderful turn. Never in a million years did CJ think she could be this happy. With her new husband and closest friends in tow, she’s bound
Nobleman's son, Todd Ramble, returns home after years abroad and finds himself falling in love with his step-sister, who was now a grown woman. Unfortunately their love is brutally challenged by his tyrannical father.
Love, no matter when or how it is imparted, tenderly enters the heart of our beloved where it fits permanently like a precious gem, transcending time and place.
Thank you very much for sharing this lovely poem.
