Slaying Dragons
By Kathy Armijo
Dragons come in all shapes and contrivances.
Is it purely an animal of long ago?
Is it the tumultuousness in our daily lives?
My dragons are frightening.
They speak of something that looms –
Huge and disconcerting.
It sometimes fills the day and night with gloom.
How to slay the dragons:
I could request a knight from days of yore
But, I don’t think they do that any more.
I could leave this state ‘of mind’
And leave my dragons behind.
MY knight in shining armor
Was and always will be
The one who is here for all eternity.
His name is God.
There’s no need to have Him outlawed.
He’ll slay dragons for one and all.
That’s His job.
He slays dragons big and small
He’s the Savior for us all.
There’s no dragon He can’t kill,
If I but surrender to Him my will.
So, my dragons I place at His feet
Knowing that my life is His to keep.
As once again for me –
My dragons He does slay.
Thus, it is to Him that I give thanks and praise
All the rest of my days!
