I love your poem and the title gives us much to think about. I read once a quote by a psychologist: "we are constantly building, experiencing, analyzing, and remaking ourselves." Your poem title, "Recycle yourself", is more to the point.

What comes to mind...superficially, is to just keep giving of yourself, over and over and over again...If I use my heart up, I must learn to love again, if I see something I didn't like seeing, I must still open my eyes to keep a watchful eye, regardless, if I use my hands to help, I must continue to find strength to help some more, etc...
Your pen provokes many, to use our brains, over and over...to think!
We must think about how we can recycle ourselves, instead of feeling discarded for the one purpose we thought we should of been meant.

Cannot argue with the premise of your thoughts. Healthy self-examination, and the understanding of who we are in the Holy Spirits mirror (in light of scriptural mandate), is tantamount to becoming more Christ-like, and becoming a more loving and useful family member, citizen, etc.

Recycling yourself, however, verges, for me, too much on the concept of the embodiment of someone in a new more improved form; from a worm to a butterfly so to speak. Of course then it could also imply the idea of renascence as a second or new birth. A metamorphosis from old useless habits into the new more useful loving person that can affect more positively those around them. Being born again in Christ, a mandate for all those intent on entering the Kingdom of the Father, could also loosely fit into the general gist of what you are trying to say here. Feeling good about yourself, though, in your choices and what you accomplish, is not necessarily representative of obedience and goodness. What about spiritual warfare?

Recycling literally means causing to repeat a cycle, or using again after a processing. The way this particular phrase supports the sentiment of your heartfelt introspection seems better suited in the realm of metaphor.

Kathy, in that recycling cycle one's self we first have to love ourselves and like others to be a better person. This poem is full of wisdom & truths...through acceptance of God in our lives, we can have a complete overhaul and a renewal. I enjoyed this much!
