Darkest Hour
By Kathy Armijo

There are times when I feel so alone
I am tired all the way to the bone
Why did life have to take this turn?
Is this what hell feels like?  Burn, burn, burn

When will this yearning stop?
Off the edge of the world, I want to drop
Sadness takes its toll
I’m on a pity-pot roll

I pray for peace and strength
NOW would be nice
I’ve said this prayer twice, thrice
Can’t hear nor feel His comfort

I’m too emotionally overwhelmed
Yet, I know He is trying to steer my helm
Striving to calm my woes
I know He’s here with me

Just can’t feel the calm
Or a gentle breeze’s balm
It’s always darkest before the dawn
Perhaps I should get some sleep.  Yawn, yawn

Your writings are so recognizable Kathy. I keep saying "I have been there in that darkest hour". I know it well. Beautiful in its journey of emotions.

Wow. You take the reader through so many emotions and just when sadness sweeps through at the last, you end it with two words that make me smile. Beautifully composed!

That drowning feeling can be so real...
I am sure the "son" will bring peace.

The depth of feeling alone can bring you down, yet their is always the knowledge that you are never truly home. Time can do things to a place: for its embrace can go full circle. Encircling your steps with a strangers pall: you hear the call of falling leaves. Drawing you back to that artful thieve: deceiving your senses until you start believing in your self. Wealth is found when the seed of spring comes rushing in: your beauty ellipses the romantic plane. Your knight falls to his knees to kiss your flowing train.

It is human and real to feel emotions, the good with the bad. This write is a great lesson in that regard.

Has a gothic feel to this, and a dark night of the soul.

Here's a thought, maybe as so many feel this way, there are military bio/chem tests in the atmosphere.....

There is such sadness in your poem dear lady. He has given you the gift of the pen. He has given you a venue to share with. Stop. Think. Look. You are blessed with friends all around. Peace comes with the realization that, "He",is always with you. Blessed be his name. Y

(((Kathy))),

You are in my prayers - together - you, me, and God, we'll overcome the darkness. And the little twist at the end - another sleepless night, having way too many of them, myself!!!!

I feel the same way when I run around in circles, trying to do fifteen things at once, when all I really need is time to sleep. I think we are all very guilty of trying to do everything we're expected to do (and then some), when sometimes, we'd just be better advised to stop, breathe, and let God's guidance steer us in the right direction.

A beautiful write, Kathy. I pray you'll find some rest time, soon.

The scriptures say, "Sorrow may last for the night but joy comes in the morning." In the darkness of the night our aloneness seems to be amplified. The first rays of sun (Son) begins to chase away the darkness.

Do I know the feeling !! You have done a wonderful job of describing a near-univeral sense of sadness and frustration at not being able to
connect. Exhaustion often brings it on. Oh, well. S o m e. day we'll get enough rest. Right? Luv 'n' Hugs, Pea
