I learned to talk
“Be quiet!”

I learned to crawl and walk
“No running in the house!”

I learned to read and write
“Quit writing on the walls!”

I learned to ride a bike
“Stay out of the street!”

I learned to cook
“Since you’re such a good cook, will you make a meatloaf?”

I learned the art of give and take
“Give of your time and talent”

I learned that life has some thorns
“Stay out of the cactus plants”

I learned to be the master of myself
“You can do it”

I learned life is a mystery
“The ending surpasses expectation”

I learned life’s lessons
“There’s no end to learning”

I learned life’s biggest lesson
“I’m a work in progress”
