lavendar scent and warm water trickle
soaking away the ballots of opinions
overloading my thoughts
in votes of non scent

sliding my hands slippery with foam
the front of my legs, the back of my arms
softening my skin, eyes half closed
maneuver the faucet, with my painted toes

the cat comes in and plays with bubbles
a constant companion, he purrs hello
floating weightless, I splash his tail
then he flicks it back, in carefree direction

oh yellow eyes, if you were human
I'd pull you in here, and suds you affection
slippery and sliding within this porcelain
he yawns and sits, seeming uninterested

within the liquid tranquil, I lay my head back
the harvests have come, reapers clear the fields
they are going now in growing numbers
the waves of spirit leaving the planet

I slide my head under, holding my breath
I had sought them before, and gone unheard
I return to the surface, and inhale a breath
and know someday, they pass by again

I knew better really, wanting only keeps it away
a state of reaching something not reached
needing could be closer yet accepting was best
smiling I thought, you are a reason to bathe
