They slipped in through the open window, deep in the full moon night
and wrapped their arms around me, like broken, dirty angel wings

They whispered that everything would be all right and I would always be their queen,
that even though they can’t be with me, they’ll always want to be

The breeze blew in and smelled like soap, clean and real and almost there
inhaling slow within the depth, I took it, saved it, inside my lungs

The breath of something that only wanted me, just the way I was and am
the hands that stroked and soothed the lines in my face, the fears in my head

The light came in and then I woke, silent ripples of the stranger in the night,
a dream, a beast, a love so true or was it only me all along and just my broken, dirty angel wings?
