Over the years I have enjoyed reading John McAleenan's column in Florida Today Newspaper. He took the time to read my writing and offer the honest opinions and help I needed. This poem was written before he passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2002. He was a Pulitzer Prize nominee and an avid surfer.
A Poem for John
The surf is up and Mac is down
But only for a while.
He's waiting for a gentle wave
The one that suits his style.
Water lines and suntans fade
Strong spirits never do.
Keep fighting for the cause that's right
The beach will wait for you.

What a wonderful uplifting tribute. This is wonderful. He IS smiling!
