The Paintings

I have a pair of paintings sitting on the wall
each stands about two feet tall
A painting of a lady and a knight

They are dressed in blue and red
they watch over me in bed
and wait for me to fall asleep at night

I think its then they dance
Or possibly romance
with each other in the darkness of my room

Perhaps it is then they do embrace
having freedoms taste
from their frames there in the gloom

Do they dance upon the cieling
(although the paint is peeling)?
Do they do the Rhumba or the Twist?

Or Perhaps a Minuet
or another set
of dances in pre-dawns early mist?

Do they dance to Karaoke
or do the Hoki poki
or perhaps a Can-Can on the floor?

Or are they softly kissing?
I wonder what Im missing
as in my bed I softly snore.

Yet they go back every morning
with daylights early warning
across the room to their respective places

Yet when I rise from bed
and shake my weary head
I see their smiles of love across their faces
