The Point

At what point was the line
Crossed
When you and I did what we
Shouldn't've done
When I spoke those words acknowledging
That you were the One
When we did the deed that ended up being
More than just
Innocent
Fun

At what point did we lose sight
Of the lives we've lived
The Dreams we've dreamt
The love we've had squandered and lost
To find this place
This wasted Land of Uncertainty
Of sliding eyes and whispered
Lies
Of nights spent separated by
Too many words
Trying to count herds of sheep
To keep from
Weeping

At what point did we decide
That we would ride this thing out
Till the end
Whatever that meant or
Whatever the Future
Portends
That we would go for it
See if what we feel is real
F*ck the world
We only live one life
Ride or die
I really really need you
Tonight

At whatever point it was that we
Did what we did
Now it's done and we're both running
From the consequences of our
Actions
Trying to hide our dishonesty not only from
Ourselves but from each other
As well

Trying to pretend like those secret conversations
Where we talked about true love and human relations
Were really just fantasy discussions
That we were really just close
Trying to get the most out of our time together since
No one knows the future and we must have been
Soulmates in some other life cause we really relate
Like we've known each other
Forever or
Whatever

Attraction comes in so many shades
In waves of blue and gray
Its call leads to the fall of conscious action sometimes
You can't rewind and replay the scene trying to figure out
What you really mean
Or meant by those words
Cause they're gone
The moments we shared relegated to the threats of the
Comically-ensnared
Captured by their inability to deal with life in this world
Or really and truly feel
What another person's going
Through

But that's the really real
The unspoken curse behind every bad luck deal struck
By every Conspirator of Lust who has ever lived
To give her or his gift to the Omniverse
To share that special understanding that exists between
Souls of Light
All Soldiers in the battle of the New World
Drawn together
No hurled
Into each other's Spheres of
Consciousness
To share their special and individual Fates
Trying to relate

It is at this point the Truth can finally be seen
That our worlds are nothing but the Dreams
Of diseased and wounded minds
Finding echoes of kind
In the colorful yet sordid lines of braille-like
Complexity the last Secret Language of the
Emotionally blind
Truth being relative it becomes easy to find
Excuses for our actions and thoughts
The vagaries of the Human Condition sought
Throughout time and space
Until finally arriving at this very special
Place

The singularity of preternatural Existence
An infinitesimal mass of primal Consciousness

That halcyon moment of Genesis

A Seed in the creative Void

That beautiful
Magical
Point

When we fell in
Love

I had to read this twice, for your words spoke to my heart so clearly, These lines:
That our worlds are nothing but the Dreams
Of diseased and wounded minds
Finding echoes of kind
In the colorful yet sordid lines of braille-like
Complexity the last Secret Language of the
Emotionally blind

touching me so deeply today, in this time of my life, Your lovely poem shall haunt me for a while yet...

Mark,
Oh this one from beginning to end touches the soul
"At what point did we lose sight
Of the lives we've lived
Of the Dreams we've dreamt
The love we've had squandered and lost
To find this place
This wasted Land of Uncertainty
Of sliding eyes and whispered
Lies
Of nights spent separated by
Too many words
Trying to count herds of sheep
To keep from
Weeping "
