Daddy doesn’t know the power
Hidden in his every word.
Words can make a child cower
Or soar freely as a bird.
Daddy’s words can fill a heart with joy
Or rip it from a small chest.
Words can make one feel polished as a toy,
Or… like a ‘clunker’ laid to rest.
Daddy’s words can encourage just like a hug
And put a smile on a child’s face,
Words can pull out from underneath the rug,
With phrases like, “you are a disgrace.”
Daddy’s words can positively impact his child
Every day of his life.
But negative words that are released
create bitterness and strife.
Abundant life can surely grow
in the heart of a child.
But only if daddy’s words are sensitive.
His thoughts and actions undefiled.
Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24
