... guess who hates history class!? I DO! poetry is all i have to fall back on...

more of what you wanted
less of the things you need
paving the way to oblivion
reality fades, in and out,
light to dark. i see the recesses
of my mind, lit bright
with a torch of need, of want
i wonder how much further i will
have to wander these dark corridors
this oblivion trailing me
one, two, five steps behind
falling back, catching up again
threatening me only with it’s presence
it’s continued trek in my footsteps
my pilgrimage through streets
that i have walked before, not recognizing
these trails of confusion
shadows, patches of light
hold my presence hostage for an instant
and in the deep pools of light
the brightness fading, growing dim
at the edges. i leave no shadow
i am not really here, not here
in the face of this danger, i do not run
i stand in this pond of glowing light
shadow less. i wonder where
this endless street concludes
where my life will end
but oblivion has fallen back
a thousand steps, a million miles, gone
and here i stand, holding all i need
dropping all the things i want
