She beckons to him
through the haze and the gloom…
While her strength and stark beauty
resides in her bloom.

Though winds bend and sway her
she holds through the night…
Blushed petals unfolding
‘neath dawn’s amber light.

The rain only kissing
her delicate skin…
Enticing his touch
with the ultimate sin.

Love’s poisonous flower
bare petals that stain…
In colors of chaos
and rivers of pain.

Then as her perfume
sweetly suffocates will…
Rapture’s intoxication
has power to kill.

Yet she draws back her thorns
and be stills all the weeds…
Determined to be
everything that he needs.

A delicate balance
of heaven and hell…
Is what grows in the garden
that lover’s tend well.

Oooh! LOL I've missed your stuff! I'm glad I had the time to stop by and see what you've been up to. I really should visit more often, shouldn't I? :)

I love the imagery here, especially with the flower, or a rose, I'm thinking a rose, how she just has both good and evil natures inside and can freely display either at will.

My favorite line...
"Yet she draws back her thorns
and be stills all the weeds…"
Be stills... it's quirky. Something unique!

Hope you're doing well. Have a great 2003!

This is very well done. Lovers do tend well...even the anger. Very nice choice of words you used.

Beautiful verses all...something abnormal in this is that I wrote a poem today entitled "Death comes Knocking" with similar lines in the opening "She and I revolved around Cancer’s moon
like two moon flowers in a perpetual garden
tended very carefully by wide eyed thieves" Well, like they say...great minds... It's about time you posted, Melissa. Excellent work as usual.
