SHE DIDN'T GO ALONE
"Hi mom, how are you today?
Thought I'd call and see what you had to say."
Every morning it was just like that,
She'd call or I'd call and we'd have a little chat.
But Mom's not there anymore you see,
She went to heaven to save a place for me.
I'll miss all the things that we used to do,
But they’re deep inside me as if they were new.
The love we had was so special and good,
Never to be forgotten like an old piece of wood.
She was always around when things were rough,
And she never faltered when things got tough.
She taught me to bake when I was small,
And to cook up a storm as I grew tall.
When I get lonely and go to the phone,
I suddenly remember and feel so alone.
I get out her cookbook and open it up,
Look at her words written, add one more cup.
The tears come and go while I'm looking with pride,
But I love doing it, 'cause she's right by my side.
She's gone from this life to the heavens above.
She didn't go alone, she took my love.
Some day I know she'll be waiting for me,
At the Golden Gates we both will be.
No need for phones or any call,
'Cause MY MOM and I will have it all.

Blessings and Love ~~ Micke
Some mothers are just so very special, and the mother-daughter relationship can be so, so close and loving.
I love your style, and the way you have of drawing me into your experience and identifying with it. This is just great. I especially love the cooking verse, and yes-- same here; and the words about the phone calls are so true, too. No phone calls in heaven--so true, so powerful!
AND just FYI, when I was little, I stood in the window yelling "Yay, Shamokin!" after a football game, with my older brother and sister yelling for me to stop it. How was I to know Shamokin and Coal Township were worlds apart?
Love,
Connie
