Written for a very talented special friend who I love dearly.

God Sent Me a Friend

Many years ago, when I was small,
I had few relatives, almost none at all.
I learned to cherish friendships, at a very young age,
I chose and picked many, they could probably fill this page.

Some of them hurt me and treated me bad.
I kept on looking but began to feel sad.
My heart was breaking, will it ever mend?
Then at my lowest, God sent me a friend.

I knew that he sent her, I knew from the start.
He gave her such gifts, like music and art.
When she sings her song in her unique way,
She puts all the sunshine in my dreary day.

To tell her I love her would not be enough.
But trying to show her sometimes gets real rough.
With miles between us, I can't always be,
They’re when she's hurting and really needs me.

But when I'm at my lowest and hurting within.
She sends me a letter and puts herself in.
She says that she owes me, but that isn't true .
She gave me so much, if she only knew.

The truth of this friendship, if it ever gets told.
Is I gave her paper, and she gave me gold.
God gave her those gifts that I mentioned to you.
But God gave me her, so I got a gift too.

If you'd add all this up, I'm sure you'll see,
That he gave the greatest gift to me.
A gift from God should be cherished and loved.
'Cause not everyone gets a gift from above.

If you abuse it and treat it bad,
It may make God just a little bit mad.
So I'll cherish my friend, what more can I say.
If God gets mad enough he may take her away.

Without her there and standing by,
He may as well take me, for I'll certainly die.

Oh wonderfully beautiful possessing a stong voice inverse.
I would also agree with you, friends are to be treasured.
Another blessing wishing you many, many more days of loving a friendship(s).

Blessings to you,
~Gwendolyn

Feedback on this one. It is about your friends and I like being one of your friends. I like how your poems rhyme and aget to the point and uplift me the ones I like to read. I like the one about the first girlfriend you met when got to Colo. but cannot pick it up now againm, but will , saw her photo with the pretty blue eyes. Is she still a great friend there.

Love, Lois, your friend from PA.
