Date Rape

A beautiful loving child that was pure in everyway,
In everything she’s done and all that she would say.
There was never hate and anger in this young lovely lass,
There was only love and trust and she carried it with class.

Someone that she trusted since she was very small,
A friend since childhood through both growing tall.
One day that friendship changed, into her worst nightmare.
He raped her while doing homework, without a single care.

Now she is living in that nightmare, no answers in her prayer.

She kept it very deep inside ashamed and deeply scarred,
Not telling those who loved her, for it was much too hard.
She finally broke & shattered & the pain breaking through.
Our dear little granddaughter was broken exactly in two…

She wasn’t the first, the troubled boy had harmed.
There was another girl too terrified, to put out an alarm.
She was also frightened and wouldn’t give up his name.
If only she had,  our Jordie would still be the same.

He’ll never learn his lessons for his Mother stepped right in.
She hired him a lawyer to erase her child’s dreadful sin.
Our precious granddaughter felt destroyed and disgraced.
When he &  his mother left they had  smirks upon their face.

She had to face him everyday, when she went to school.
He’d stand right there and glare at her, acting like a fool.
It got worse every day she went, and became harder for her to go,
She couldn't take it anymore,  she quit with her dignity in tow.

She had done nothing wrong, onlytrusting in someone undeserved.
Now her life's in shambles and she always seems unnerved.
She also lost her faith and trust and hope's not too far behind.
I pray each day that God will heal her, and bring her peace of mind.

Written with Love for My Precious Granddaughter.

My daughter just recently told me this happened to her also. It did not happen just once but several times over the course of three months. This boy was here boyfriend & she had been dating him for about 9 months before this started happening to her. By the first time it happened she was in love with him & he had her so emotionally manipulated & dependant on him. She did not want to loose him or get him into trouble & was afraid of him. So she continued seeing him & told no one about what he was doing to her, not even her best friend. It even got to the point where he would hold her down & I did notice bruises on her arms. When I questioned her about the bruises she said she got them when they were playing around with each other. This has not been reported yet because my daughter is refusing to report it. This boy found out that my daughter was finally telling her friends what happened. So he told his parents & this boys mother sent my daughter a message on facebook. This women had the nerve to threaten my daughter with a civil suit for defamation of character against her son, if my daughter did not stop talking about it. She told her she would not just sue her but also her parents & that her lawyer would be in contact with her parents if she told anyone else. My daughter had only told her close friends & her parents when this boys mother sent my daughter the threat. Since then this boy himself has gone & told other students at school directly that my daughter is lying about him raping her. I talked to a lawyer who said they can not file a civil suit against her at this point. I do not want to force her to report this but at the same time I want justice for her. I fear what happen to your granddaughter will happpen to another girl if I can not convence my daughter to report this to the prosecuter. The day after my daughter told me what happened I made her an appointment to see her therapist. The soonest appointment for her to be seen was yesterday. So she has only talked to the therapist once about this so far. The therapist told me that there is a good chance the boy will not be prosecuted & that reporting it would cause my daughter more harm than good. Even though the therapist does believe my daughter & agrees that this was definately date rape that occured. The lawyer I talked to said that if the prosecuter does not think there is a strong enough case they won't even file the charges. So I don't think there will be much harm in atleast having my daughter tell them what happened, even if not charges are filed. I am at a loss trying to figure out what to do in this situation. If you have any advise or think your granddaughter would be willing to talk to my daughter please message me. Thank you for writing this poem I am going to give it to my daughter to read. I wish your granddaughter healing & peace from the horrific injustice that happended to her. My thoughts & prayer are with her & your family.

For lack of a a nail the shoe was lost. Well this poem shows the nail hit squarely on the head of love. You should read my poem, A Fallen Sparrow, it is similar in scope.

Oh my friend, you've moved me to tears this morning. My heart and prayers go out to your granddaughter, such a horrible ordeal for her. So glad that she finally spoke out, that young boy's day will come. It seems a shame that justice wasn't served, but in time it will be. There is no shame in being a victim, but the one who inflicted this pain upon her should be ashamed, he needs help!...Tell her to hold her head up high, and to remember there are good people still in the world and someone special for her someday...my prayers are with you all, keep being that loving and special grandmother that every little girl, young girl and all girls need! I don't know what I would've done without my mamaw...many things I couldn't talk to my mom about, I could talk to her about!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Bonnie the anguish this causes is almost too hard to bear. However you have taken the right steps. She acknowledged that it happened and that is a big step to take. Most teens do not. next she has tried to face it with dignity. I think she shouldn't have to go to the same school under the circumstances. She needs all the love nd support you can give her, plus professional guidance if you can get it for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please tell her that the worst has been faced, now she must hold her head high and not let anyone think she is defeated. She has nothing to be ashamed of, it is the rapist that should be ashamed!God bless yu all.

I am so sorry. For her, for you, for all who love and cherish her. Hope it helps to know that a lot of us have been there. Many more have had close calls. It is important to put shame and guilt where they belong. There is NO shame in being a victim! There is NO reason to feel guilty, or as if one is of less value!! We can see your granddaughter is beautiful on the outside. We can tell from your description that she is even more beautiful on the inside.
Her beauty can only grow. Give her an extra hug and a kiss for me.
Tell her to follow her dream!! <3 'Pea' <3

Bonnie, this is almost too sad, too horrendous, to write a comment on. My heart goes out to you, her grandmother, and to this precious girl who has been hurt so deeply. I will be lifting her in prayer this day, that she will know the love of God and that His love will bring her healing.

With love and prayers,
Connie

Bonnie,

And yet, it goes unreported a lot of the time, because perhaps, according to society, she deserved it - time to understand "No" is "NO!" Painfully penned -

Well, I have been there and I can tell you, it is good that she confided in you, that is the first step. I kept it bottled up inside for years because of the shame and it really ate away at me, and I took it out on myself. I will pray for your granddaughter, and I really will pray that she seeks help and guidance with it because it is a struggle to difficult to bear alone. It took me many years to forgive him and put it all behind me, and still, I have to remember not all men are like him, but it is possible with God to face our nightmares and move past them, my blessings to you both- Michelle
