If You Could Ask?
A friend asked me many years ago,
If you could ask God for just one thing, what would it be?
I couldn’t give her an answer then, for it was mind boggling for me.
I thought of all kinds of things, riches, material things,
a cute guy, and many other things crossed my mind.
Many years have past since then, and an answer I finally did find.
I would ask God to give everyone on this earth one thing they too could ask.
For this way, there would be more we all could do, with this unusual task.
We’d have zillions of requests to God to make this a better world.
With everyone asking everything from world peace to gifts unfurled.
If we wouldn’t be selfish and think only of our own personal needs.
We could stamp out hunger, poverty, wars and intense greed.
But God does give us many gifts and answers all our prayers.
So maybe if we ask for humanity, he would show how much he cares.
