Twelve Disciples’ and Me?

How many times in life I wondered if I would have been a believer and follower of Jesus.

Poem Artwork

Twelve Disciples’ and Me?
Can you imagine walking this earth with your friends and God’s son?
Watching him perform miracles day after day until each day was done.
Witnessing to sinners, turning water into wine, making blind men see.
As I have imagined throughout my life about adventures with Thee.

As I walked with them each day my faith became so strong.
I learned more about HIS love and what was right and wrong.
So when they came to get my Savior and hang him on that tree.
How could anyone deny or rebuke him, please say it wasn’t me?

Would I have been like Peter and deny him ore’ & ore’ again.
Would I have been like Judas and betray my old dear friend.
We all knew HE was the son of God, sent from heaven above.
We’ve seen the glorious things HE’s done and witnessed HIS love.

So then how could we deny him or betray him on that dreadful day?
But that’s exactly what happened, when they took our Savior away.
I’ve had this dream many times and this query is always facing me.
“What would I have done?”
Would I have stood by my Lord or would I have also taken my leave?

it is the measure of mortals for we are incapable of truly understanding the whole of God and his love for us - though I often wonder why, as poorly as we carry on in life -- it is hard to imagine not feeling, blessed -- peace and love to you my friend -- JMW

An outstanding Write Bonnie
I am sad to say that you would have done nothing
For his life was destine to end as it was meant to be
His sole purpose is life was to take away the sins of men.
Praise the Lord
Love & peace be with you

Beautifully written poem and a very tough question. The answer is simple, though: Like all of His close-knit band of followers, you would have fulfilled your place in His prophecy, just as planned. Great writing, Poet :-)

In all honesty you would have stood by him as his spiritual aura would have glowed so bright with love, compassion, reason, empathy, all the qualities you have inherited through his love....

Be always safe,
Karen

This is a beautiful poem and I applaud you and commend you for your faith. You would have stood by him Bonnie, regardless of the cost. I can't say it any better than George has done below.

First of all Bonnie, I do love that picture so. Secondly, I know you would have stood true faithful to him. You will never let him go. A type of caring person like you would do just that stay ever faithful. A good dream this you are having too, it is wondrously put into words now. Loved it. **********

I wrote a similar poem some years back and when you see how many who know of His power and what He has done, still deny Him today, you have to wonder. Hard to place yourself back in time on what your would have done, rather to give glory to Him today, that will be all He asks.

Bonnie, at the time of Jesus, nobody would have believed, because you didn't knew, nobody did, and probably you would have follow the dictates of the Temple Elders and forget about another charlatan in town. Twelve disciples and me, a good question, remember Thomas? putting his finger in the nail holes? they were twelve and they doubted, so, my dear Bonnie, why shouldn't you have done the same?

Bonnie... remember.... WE are humans...we are not perfect like God...that is how it's supposed to be... We do our best as human beings, and if those twelve walked side by side with Jesus and still had doubts and/or were afraid???? then.... only HE knows what we would have done.... We just keep loving him and trying to be who HE wants us to be... :-)) hugs and much love in this really serious writing. lindalaw

"Twelve Diciples and Me" is a passionate poem that's filled with heartfelt and deep, soul-searching questions that are exceptionally well expressed, Bonnie May! We all want to think that we would have stood by him to the death, but the truth is, that God only knows what we really would have done!
