Silence filled the emptiness of my soul,
I watched the colors of day fade into night.
The moon glowed as a gentle breeze rustled
the last leaves, descending them to spiral softly
beneath each step of the path, I strolled.
Restless by the absence of you and your love,
I thought back in time to moments we shared.
Each moment had a magical effect that
left us speechless staring into each others eyes
drinking the awe, mesmerized to silence.
With your touch, you brought music into my life.
Strumming my feelings, blended them into harmony,
creating a melody of our love. Each note
you played to perfection as if you knew our song.
If one listened closely, the violin wept her tune,
for the purity of the love that echoed within our reflection.
I understood why you left; our lives were distant
and our cups were full, or so we thought.
I wondered if you too felt the emptiness, the longing,
or if you looked into your cup now to find it empty.
Though you have wine, would you find you had not the heart
to fill your cup anew, would it now serve as a cherished memory?
The memory of you brought forth tears that flowed relentlessly,
I cared not that I cried, for the tears were a symbol of yearning,
of my painful loss, of my love that I hold within my heart.
How I longed for the music of our love and how I thirst
to fill my cup with you, drinking the wine of our fruit.
As I walked this lonely path, I yearned for the comfort of your embrace.
I yearned to hear the melody of your heart blending with mine,
beating our tune. I looked up to the stars, closed my eyes
breathing deeply the scent of winter. Clearing all thoughts,
I heard the solo tune of your distant heart playing to the moon.
I smiled and I whispered to the moon, I love you too!

I concur with Lisa on this...it is a masterpiece. And I can only add, that, now that our baby "Distant Dream" is born and complete, there is a void. The best part though is, that there is still time to create more babies. We will still be able to enjoy the wine of our fruit.

Love is universal and not limited to the most perfect among us. In this collection of romantic short stories and poetry, love comes to those who are decidedly imperfect, who possess very real human flaws, scars, and challenges. Awaiting us as we are.
