Is it lip service we attribute to the touted slogan
being birthed from the womb of our new century;
a politically correct phrase in our lives and the lives
of our children:

"No child left behind"

What satisfying implications a few words like these
can foster . . .
hope,
chance,
opportunity,
education,
dignity,
integrity,
self-actualization,
confidence,
boldness,

Did we get the prescription right this time?
or will we have to re-mix the ingredients again?

I hope not
I’ll not only be watching
I’ll be working
for them
I’ll be standing in the gap
doing what I can as always
reaching . . . teaching . . . advocating . . .
however . . . whenever . . . wherever . . .

a right thing
a sacred thing
a god-like thing

"When you’ve done it unto the least ones . . . children...you’ve done it unto me"
